Complete the Online Class
Complete the 4 module online class. Progress on your video based class is automatically saved allowing you to come and go as needed giving you maximum flexibility. + You get unlimited Exam attempts.
Download and print your DPS LTC-104 from us and take that with you to your shooting proficiency exam (see step 2).
Shooting Proficiency Exam
Schedule your 1 hour shooting exam with a verified instructor in Imperial, TX after you complete the required online course. This is what your completed LTC-104 will look like.
You'll shoot 50 rounds total and can use our Shooting Proficiency Demonstration Prep Guide to see the exact shots you'll take.
Complete the DPS Application
Complete your License to Carry application on the Texas DPS (Department of Public Safety) website.

Texas DPS Mails You Your License
Once your application is processed and approved, the DPS will mail your license out to you. This typically takes about 4 weeks if done correctly. Please follow the exact instructions we give you in the course to make sure you get it done correctly the first time.

How long does it take to get your License to Carry in Texas 2024?
Online Portion
The online course is 4 hours long. It's all video based and you can come and go as needed. Your progress is automatically saved.
Shooting Exam
The shooting exam is 1 hour long.
Getting Your License to Carry in Mail
After everything is submitted to the DPS it generally takes about 2-4 weeks to get your license in the mail. Please note that by law, the DPS does have UP TO 60 days to get it to you.
