Shooting Exam Instructions
You will shoot 50 rounds total. Each shot will give you a score of 0,3,4, or 5 points. Hitting outside of the silhouette is worth 0 points; hitting inside the silhouette but outside of the rings is worth 3 points; hitting in the 7 ring is worth 4 points; and hitting in the 8,9, or 10 ring (x) is worth 5 points. You must get 175 points out of a possible 250 points total to pass. Each shot in the real exam and simulator will be followed by a quick rest and reset (and a reload if needed).

Items to Bring to the Shooting Exam

You can bring any legal handgun that is .22 caliber or larger to shoot with. It is recommended to shoot with something you are already familiar with or a lower caliber pistol like a .22, 9MM, or .45 Caliber. A semi-Automatic is preferred, but a revolver is also adequate.
If you do not have a firearm please let the instructor know ahead of time. You will need to rent one. The fee for this is typically $10 + the cost of ammo.
Schedule Your Shooting Exam
Once you complete the online portion of the Texas LTC Course, download and print your LTC-104 (formerly referred to as a LTC-100/101 prior to 5/2024) certificate and double check that the information matches your drivers license exactly.
